5 Ear Piercing Benefits That Will Actually Make Your Life Better, according to a TCM Expert

Henna and I used to argue on topics frequently. Henna cursed Western medicine while I was a staunch follower of it. But this one time, I felt she went too far to prove herself. I was in great disbelief when she told me about the benefits of ear piercing in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

She boasted of her ear piercings as she showed me the numerous metals hanging in her ear. My office assistant was all in love with the treatments of Acupuncture and claimed that there even are ear piercings that help you lose weight.

The weight-loss claims hit me hard, and I decided to do some research of my own. As soon as the clock hit 5, I hit the road and was home in no time.

What Did I Find On The Internet?

Curious to learn how true Henna was, I searched about Traditional Chinese Medicine. I found out that Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese medicine. I was aware of the name acupuncture and considered it as a painful procedure meant only for the Braveheart.

But my despair of the fat belly became an engine to my courage. I dug further into the internet and found the essence of Acupuncture. Things started to ease out when I came to know that Chinese medicine relies upon the balance and flow of Qi energy within the body. Any blockage and obstruction of the free flow lead to disease.

I had become aware of acupuncture techniques but still couldn’t find a connection between ear-piercing and TCM until I came across this article by Organic Olivia.

According to Chinese medicine specialist Ling Shu, the ear is a unification point of all channels of the body.

I came to know that WHO has identified almost 39 auricular points that are used as frequent sites for acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture effects last for a short period of about 20-40 minutes; thus, the concept of ear piercings arrived to keep the Qi following.

I was still looking for some ”ear piercings for weight loss reviews” on the internet but couldn’t find one. So, I decided to take things in my hand and planned to experience it myself.

My Visit to the Chinese Medicine Center

I was eager to go. So, I called my assistant Henna and asked her about the whereabouts of the center.

Upon reaching, I was warmly greeted by Rozy there. I was a sissy since childhood, so I was gutted with mixed feelings of anxiousness and fear. Rozy thought it was a good idea to show me the benefits of ear piercing to calm me.

Rozy sat me on a chair and went to grab an explanatory poster while I quietly saw the hangings on the wall. Soon she was back with a big banner that explained all the critical auricular points and their link with the body.

5 Benefits of Ear Piercing

As I explained to her, my main concern was weight loss, so she showed me weight loss points for piercing.

1.Weight loss

Weight loss is one of the most excellent benefits of the procedure, so here I was in line to become thin and fit.

I was with that the outer cartilage flap had a “hunger point.” Rozy suggested that I must get a piercing on this point for my weight loss. This point is known as the Tragus, and its piercing leads to effective changes in the weight.

After having decided on having an ear piercing for weight loss, I further inquired of other ear-piercing points that could be beneficial:

Rozy was happy to explain to me about the Best acupuncture points for ear piercing and their impact on the body. Of the innumerous advantages she told, I remember a few who are as follows:

2. Anxiety and Depression Management

The ear is a microsystem. It contains points to control issues related to different parts of the body. I was keen to listen up about ear piercings that help with anxiety and depression. Who doesn’t want to? I mean, in today’s fast and tense world, all need a stress reliever.

Rozy pointed to the Shen Men point and claimed it as a relieving point of stress. Associated to this point were Point zero and Tranquilizer point, which gave a calming and tranquilizing effect when pierced.

The Point Zero can regulate the brain and the hormones to bring about relief from anxiety.

I was quick to decide that I needed a Shen Men piercing for stress as I loved the notion of having a” divine gate” piercing. I hoped that piercing at near top-center cartilage works well in boosting my immunity, and reducing my depression.

Another point (in addition to these) is the Daith point, where an ear piercing can help with stress and depression. The point was explained as an epitome for migraine relief as well.

The point lies in the innermost fold of the ear and is associated with stress relief too.

The Rook and the master cerebral point can also be of great help in providing serenity and peace of mind.

3. Muscle Relaxation and Chronic Pain Relief

The Conch point for ear piercing sounded like a good option for my friend Hari who had this neck pain for years. But then the sight of me convincing him over the pain-relieving effect of ear piercing scared me.

4. Improved Eyesight

Rozy told me that pirates wore gold hoops in their ears so that they can see better at night. Initially, I thought, “What a superstition?”. But then I thought that it wasn’t superstition, a piercing on the ear lobe can help you improve eyesight.

I may have got a metal stuck at that point too, but I like myself in glasses. It imparts a more scholarly look with the glasses.

5. Relieve from Insomnia and Allergy

When Rozy explained that western medicine lacks in treating insomnia and allergies, I felt I was sitting next to Henna, but I hated to agree with her. To my surprise, she said that a point exists for both the issues. I was like, “Really?”

There are different positions on the cartilage of the ear, which treat insomnia and provide relief from allergies when pierced.

Types of Ear Piercings

I found myself baffled when Rozy asked me what type of piercing I wanted. I was clueless and asked her, “There are types in piercings too?”

She again showed me a chart of the types and asked me to choose from it.

I requested her to put in small beaded piercings, i.e., Flat in the Tragus and the Shen men points. I didn’t want much of a fashion statement to be made so stuck to basics.

Was the Procedure Painful?

Rozy wasted no time in bringing a gun along. She cleaned the surface of my ear, and in the blink of an eye, she punched the ear at the required points. I felt a “Pinching” pain, and that was it.

It was way better than my root canal experience. Immediately after the piercing, I was on my way home.

How Do I Do Now?

Well, it has been almost three months since I have had my piercings done. I can feel ear-piercing energy flow inside my body. Initially, I was afraid of acquiring any infection at the piercing site, but it has been some time now, and everything works fine.

I notice that my appetite changed in the last three months as I eat less and tend to feel full quickly. Was the change due to the piercing? Maybe. During this time, I have also lost almost 8 pounds. In addition to weight loss, I also feel better for myself. I would recommend all of you to give Traditional Chinese Medicine a try to get amazed by this fabulous technique of ear piercing.
