The Benefit Of K27 Acupressure Point And How You Can Use It To Relieve Stress

Acupuncture points are able to stimulate our central nervous system in order to encourage positive biochemical shifts that can promote both emotional and physical health – and the K27 acupressure point is no exception.

In this article today, I’m going to be taking a deeper look into the K27 acupressure point. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of what the K27 acupressure point actually is, where you can find it, and how to use it. Check it out below.

What Is The K27 Acupressure Point?

First things first, you’re probably wondering what the K27 pressure points actually refer to. The K27 pressure point refers to two acupoints located just below the collar bones, belonging to the Kidney Meridian.

The acupressure point K27 is very popular and considered to be particularly important in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is an incredibly versatile acupressure point that is understood to hold powerful qualities and health benefits, both physical and emotional.

To learn more about the K27 acupressure point, take a look at the information below. I’ve also included a few other acupressure points that work beautifully in sequence with K27.

Acupoint: KD-27 (Other Names: Kidney-27/Shu Fu/Shu Mansion)

KD-27, or Shufu, is considered to be able to relieve pain and tension in the throat, back, and chest, as well as be able to increase your brain’s endorphin levels. In fact, this study concluded that KD-27 was useful when treating fatigue in women with multiple sclerosis.

KD-27 is also used for its ability to encourage deep breathing. When performed correctly, locating and applying pressure to the K27 point is capable of releasing feelings of stress and tension, both physically and emotionally.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the KD-27 acupoint, in particular, is said to be “a place where the flow of energy gathers”, so it makes sense as to why it’s one of the most versatile acupoints. It can even be used to help boost your immune system when you’re feeling under the weather.

By pressing this specific acupuncture point on your body, the energy that flows through the area will be positively adjusted, and this will lead to an increase in endorphins. If you’d like to learn more about its other benefits, check out this article about the kidney meridian points.

Acupoint: EM-2 (Other Names: /Yin Tang/Hall of Impression)

Acupoint: EM-2 (Other Names: /Yin Tang/Hall of Impression)

The EM-2 pressure point, or yin tang, is located on the face, in between the eyebrows. It is understood to help relieve pain, stress, insomnia, headaches, and cardiovascular conditions. This 2018 review found that Yin Tang acupressure relieved stress in pre-surgery patients.

By gently pressing this point with your middle finger, you will be able to relax and decrease feelings of stress and tension throughout the body. This is especially the case when it is combined in a sequence with the KD-27 pressure point.

Acupoint: PC-8 (Other Names: Pericardium-8/Lao Gong/Palace of Toil)
Lao Gong

The second pressure point that is ideal for use alongside the K27 pressure point is the PC-8, or Laogong, pressure point. It is located on the palm, where the tip of the middle finger meets the hand when you make a fist.

It belongs to the master heart channel, so it’s a key point that can be used to access a variety of vital nerves. It is mainly understood to significantly reduce anxiety, particularly when combined with the KD-27 acupoint.

How To Locate The K27 Acupoints

Now that you know all of the wonderful benefits associated with the acupressure point k27, you’re likely wondering how you find the k27 acupressure point.

In order to locate the K27 acupuncture point, you will need to place your fingers right above your breastbone. Then, gently move your fingers downwards until you are around one inch directly below the collar bone.

Once you have done this, you should feel two soft spots. After you have located the two acupoints, proceed to gently massage the two points while taking three deep breaths. Repeat this process 5 times.
