The 3 Key Acupressure Points for Cold and Cough Relief

Why These Acupressure Points Are Effective

The organ closely related to the throat and trachea is the lungs. The acupressure points Ren-22 Tiantu, LU-1 Zhongfu, and LU-5 Chize are all located on the lung meridian. Stimulating these points improves the flow of Qi (vital energy) and eases breathing, making them particularly effective for alleviating cold and cough symptoms.

Ren-22 Tiantu

Acupoint: Ren-22 (Other Names: The Conception Vessel-22/Tian Tu/Heaven Projection)

  • Opens the airways
  • Reduces mucus production

How to Apply Pressure

Using your index finger, gently press on Ren-22. Apply a steady, firm pressure for 1-2 minutes while taking slow, deep breaths. Repeat this process several times a day.

  • Enhancing overall lung function
  • Improving Qi circulation
  • Reducing inflammation and mucus

How to Perform

Start with Ren-22, applying pressure as described. Move on to LU-1 and finish with LU-5. This sequence can be repeated multiple times a day for optimal results.

Additional Tips for Cold and Cough Relief

Rest

Giving your body adequate rest is crucial for recovery. Ensure you get plenty of sleep and avoid strenuous activities.

Herbal Remedies

Consider incorporating herbal remedies such as ginger tea, honey, and lemon, which are known for their soothing properties.

Breathing Exercises

Practicing deep breathing exercises can improve lung capacity and help clear respiratory pathways.
