How To Use Acupressure Mat For Feet

Recently, many alternative tools have become popular. But, one particular product stands out – the acupressure mat. Since it is a relatively new product, countless consumers are wondering how to use acupressure mat for feet?

Well, it’s normal to be worried about such an odd spiky surface. Some are afraid of puncturing the skin. But, if used properly, it can have some amazing effects. It can relax the muscles, reduce soreness, and relieve tension.

If you are new to these mats, you’ve come to the right place. Here is everything you need to know how to use them efficiently.

Why Acupressure Mat for Feet?

If you feel any pain or discomfort in the feet, it can be a good idea to use an acupressure mat, like the ProsourceFit Acupressure Mat, for example.

This mat relies on the same principles used in reflexology, acupressure, and acupuncture. The tiny pins scattered all across its surface are meant to stimulate the meridians, also known as the acupressure points.

Instead of targeting specific spots on the body, as you would get with acupressure, the mat offers effects in every area it comes in contact with. The key to its effectiveness lies in the pinching technique. By digging into the skin, the mat puts pressure on the skin and stimulates healthy blood flow.

With time, the body gets warmer, and the muscles start to relax. Due to the increased flow of blood, the body prompts its natural rejuvenation process providing the feet with an acupressure-like effect.

How to Use Acupressure Mat for Feet?

Getting the hang of these mats can take a little while. Besides, the spiky surface can be a bit painful and discomforting.

But, with regular use, your feet will start to warm up, and the skin will feel good. To make the most of your acupressure mat, you have to use it the right way.

Spend at least 10 to 20 minutes on your mat and remember to practice and breathe so that you can relax your body. Here is how you can use it.

  • Pick a surface. Spread the mat on a stable flat surface, preferably the floor.
  • Cover the mat with thin fabric. If you’ve never used this mat before, cover it with a very thin fabric. But, once the skin grows accustomed to it, remove the fabric. The most beneficial results are achieved on bare skin.
  • Put each foot on the mat. Place your right foot on the mat for around 3 min. Then, switch with the other foot. Repeat the same process.
  • Stand on the mat. Stand on the spiky surface with both feet for about a 1 min. Slowly increase the standing time as the skin grows accustomed to the mat.
  • Lie down. Carefully lay down on the mat for 10 min. Spread the weight evenly and avoid making any sudden movements.

Can We Use Acupressure Foot Mat for Weight Loss?

Yes, it is possible! By adding pressure to specific meridians, the mat can boost the digestive system and curb the appetite. Since it releases the flow of Qi, it could also restore the body’s natural digestion process, improve blood flow, and stimulate endorphins.
